Signet Maritime Corporation has an immediate opening for a self-motivated and organized Manager or Assistant Manager Engineering in the Ingleside, Texas office. We are seeking a talented, motivated, self-starter to support our expanding operations. This person will be responsible for vetting and ensuring that fleet vessels are following the planned maintenance schedule. The person in this position will also be responsible for working with the engineering group to modify the planned maintenance program based on discovery of issues and other criteria. The ability to manage multiple projects, in a fast-paced, priority changing environment is a necessity. The person qualified for this role will be an essential and valued member of the Signet Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Reports to the General Manager, Engineering and Shipyard and is responsible for:
  2. Overseeing and assist the Company's new construction projects.
  3. Investigating engineering casualties and provide recommendations.
  4. Engineering project management.
  5. Support for LNG related items (This also falls under Engineering project management, and new vessel design).
  6. Assistance with existing vessel retrofit / improvement.
  7. Vessel testing and troubleshooting (Bollard pull, trials, monitoring, and diagnostics).
  8. Support to HSSEQ and other departments on matters related to engineering (OVID, ISO, ISM, etc.).
  9. Procurement in the Ingleside Division.
  10. Attending and participating in safety meetings.
  11. Attending meetings with customers as required.
  12. Supervision of Texas Region Engineering Department
  13. Handling personnel claims of crew.
  14. Handling crew discipline.
  15. Other duties as assigned. Support business development team efforts by identifying potential leads, collecting and sharing market/industry intelligence both domestic and international;
  16. Provides regular analysis of existing and future customer needs, so as to anticipate future sales and business opportunities;
  17. Maintain industry knowledge to identify market, technology and competitive trends;
  18. Develops and maintains customer relations through strategic relationships with customer management based on a clear understanding of their needs, vision and strategy;
  19. Establish and maintain on-going client relationships with the various parties to anticipate and resolve potential problems, and develop new business from existing commercial relationships;
  20. Consistently follow-up on new proposals, collaborate with senior/group management to execute business development activities, status of customers business, changes in requirements to ensure that existing and future contracts and bids can be delivered in the most efficient and effective way;
  21. Assist with development of Estimated Cost Analysis Documents for Cost Management, Procurement, and Contractions of Projects;
  22. Collaborate with marketing and public relations to ensure integrity of Signet brand;

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a highly accredited university is REQUIRED
    • Maritime Academy graduate is preferred;
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0;
  2. Three (3) years' experience as a maritime industry engineer is preferred
  3. Having a USCG license is preferred
  4. Experience designing or maintaining tugs is preferred
