Job Description

The coordinator of human resources contributes to the accomplishment of Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, recruitment and ongoing development of the workforce.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with all Signet Divisions to process new hire applications, conduct background checks, and schedule pre-employment screenings;
  2. Set-up employee files to maintain new hire paperwork, maritime credentials and medical records;
  3. Administer the I-9 process for employment verification of new hires;
  4. Provide explanation and enter employee deductions for benefits package: Medical and Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and 401k;
  5. Compile hiring packet and assist Manager with new hire orientation;
  6. Attend local and non-local Career Fairs and recruitment events;
  7. Post open positions, review resumes, and set-up interviews;
  8. Assist Manager in the development of employee improvement processes and employee recognition programs;
  9. Provide exceptional customer service to crew members, Signet clients and office personnel;
  10. Prepare professional correspondence, compile personnel reports, conduct vacation and time-off audits;
  11. Maintain employee information in Quick-Books and assist the Payroll Department and Traffic Operations when needed;
  12. Assist Manager in special projects: handbook, training, policy manual, update internal Human Resources processes and forms;
  13. Assist Manager with maintaining communications with HSSEQ and Shipyard to ensure Safety Program/Training requirements are up to company standards;
  14. Create, track and maintain accurate databases, employee records and recruitment contacts;
  15. Support Human Resources and complete all administrative duties and special projects assigned by management;
  16. Answer multi-line phones, take accurate messages, and participate in activities needed to support the management functions of the team;
  17. Assist with travel arrangements, contact cards, luggage tag letters, and other duties assigned by Manager or Senior Management.

Experience and Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree from a highly accredited university is REQUIRED;
  2. Minimum GPA of 3.0;
  3. Previous HR experience for a similar size company;
  4. Background in maritime industry is preferred but not required;
  5. Must Maintain confidentiality.
